Catholics for a Free Choice a lancé aujourd'hui en France sa campagne "See Change" qui demande la révision du statut spécial du Saint Siège en tant qu' "Etat" aux Nations Unies. La présidente de Catholics for a Free Choice, Frances Kissling est déjà soutenue dans cette démarche par nombre d'organisations et de personnalités en France, parmi lesquelles la présidente du Mouvement Français du Planning Familial. Un appel a été lancé à la Convention pour l'Avenir de l'Europe ainsi qu'aux militants de la laïcité, pour veiller à ce que la séparation de l'Eglise et de l'Etat soit maintenue au sein de l'Union Européenne, et qu'il soit refusé au Vatican une influence institutionnelle comme celle qu'il a au sein des Nations Unies.

On May 14, Catholics for a Free Choice kicked off its "See Change" Campaign in France to initiate a review of the Holy See's special "state" status at the United Nations. Catholics for a Free Choice President Frances Kissling was joined by a number of French colleagues, including Françoise Laurant, president of Movement Français de Planification Familiale. The group called on the members of the Convention on the Future of Europe and activists to fight to maintain separation of church and state in the European Union and to deny the Vatican the level of influence it has in the UN.

At a unique seminar public policy experts, non governmental organizations and womens groups met with international experts to explore the role of religion in international policy making. The dialogue takes place at a time when religious institutions are increasingly interested in participating in policy debates within Europe-even as the positions of some religious institutions are at odds with the values that form a European consensus on critical social issues.
